During 2020, Tumut Community Preschool will celebrate its 60th year.  Our celebration plans have been put on hold at this time due to the uncertainty regarding restrictions around COVID-19 - however we are not planning on letting this milestone go unnoticed if we can help it!

Tumut Community Preschool was founded in 1960.    A new building was built on the current Howick Street site and was officially opened late in 1992. This building welcomed the addition of a new classroom and landscaping in 2012.
The Preschool is a purpose built facility designed to provide an abundance of natural light and ventilation. We are continually updating and adding to our Preschool as funds are available.

Our outside playground is beautiful with lots of grassed areas, big shady trees, a Reconciliation garden and room enough to run, play and have fun.

Our Values:
These are our Preschool Values; they guide what we do, how we do it and what we stand for:
Respect;      for ourselves, for other peoples, for diversity and for our world
Inclusion;    accepting, valuing and embracing differences, strengths and needs within children, families and the community
Integrity;     acting fairly, trustfully, honestly and ethically in all that we do
Kindness;    towards each other, children, families and community
Inspiration; sharing our passion for learning, innovations, knowledge and humour with children, our colleagues and the broader preschool family

Our Philosophy
Describes the ideals and values we believe in.
Childhood is a time to have fun, to explore the world, and to create and imagine possibilities.  Through play, children construct their own learning, can take positive risks and value mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow. Children are curious and capable problem solvers who have the sense of agency and the right to make decisions about themselves and their own learning.
Children have voices that are valued and trusted to express themselves.  They have a right to be treated with respect and kindness. Children can choose to flow their play freely between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating their own sense of space and learning environments.
As educators we foster a deep respect and care for our world. We role model sustainable and respectful nature based practices.  We aspire to be safe, supportive and inclusive advocates for children. Our passionate educators inspire a love of learning that can last a lifetime and in partnership with children exemplify continual learning and growth.
Our service respects and embraces the diversity of each child. We value families, their beliefs, cultures and their role as the child’s first teacher. As educators we respect families as active and diverse partners in guiding children’s learning.
We believe that genuine connections are the foundation for kind, respectful relationships with children, their families and communities.  Our Preschool embraces the learning setting as being without boundaries, inclusive of all layers of the environment, reaching from the sky to below the ground.
